In organization of the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Croatia and the Delegation of the European Union to the Republic of Croatia the opening ceremony for Twinning Light project "Further Strengthening and Enhancement of the Croatian Public Internal Financial Control" financed under European Union IPA 2007 Programme for Croatia was held in the Ministry of Finance on 9 February .
The major objective of this project worth € 250,000 is to improve the existing internal financial control system in the public sector in the Republic of Croatia, which consists of financial management and control and internal audit.
Ms. Danijela Stepić, project leader for Croatia, Director for Harmonization of Internal Audit and Financial Control, Ministry of Finance and Mr. Paolo Berizzi, Counsellor, Head of Operations Section in the EU Delegation to the Republic of Croatia addressed the participants.
Envisaged activities within the Project were presented by Ms. Danijela Stepić, Director of Central Harmonisation Unit, Ministry of Finance and Mr. Joe Dobbin, Project leader, NI-CO and partners from the United Kingdom.
The expected results of the project are to update the FMC Manual with the emphasis on connecting internal financial control system and budget system, to develop the quality assessment programme of internal auditors work and to improve the model of annual reporting on internal financial control system (PIFC system).
The above activities will contribute significantly to the improvement of the quality of the internal financial control system, what will contribute to the better management of budgetary and other budget users funds.
